Taking a confined and dated space with no natural light to an open and welcoming collaborative space is no easy feat. When the Early Learning Center of Special School District came to us in early 2018, they had recently purchased a new building in North County, slightly off the beaten path. This blank canvas that doubled their previous square footage, became the perfect backdrop to incorporate an interesting mix of finishes, gathering areas to bring people together, varied work spaces for more collaboration, and more natural light.

Over the course of a little more than a year, we provided Programming Services to determine the exact issues SSD needed addressed, Design Development & Interior Design to create the design and select the interior finishes most suited to solve those issues, the Interior Design Documentation necessary for construction, the Furniture Selection & Specification to provide the appropriate pieces for the space, and finally Construction Administration to stay on top of the progress from start to finish.

Once completed, the new Early Learning Center provides its staff and students a warm and inviting space to work, complete with larger conference center, more flexible and collaborative work spaces, and a functional layout all tied together with an interesting mix of finishes to make it fun for all ages.
